Bring: your camera AND the instruction book. Contact: COAST Camera Convenor Two Exciting New Inititatives for the Camera GroupClick these links for details:-Picture of the month The Forresters Beach Probus Club Calendar The aim of our group is to provide a fun, hands-on environment where you can learn how to make the most of your photos and captured memories and do more with your camera. Everyone is welcome and the group of regulars can help you with most photographic topics and share their own experiences. We welcome people from beginners to those with a little more knowledge and no topic is too basic to cover, as many times as necessary. Fancy cameras aren’t needed either. We use from basic point and shoot to a bit more advanced, but you don’t need an expensive camera to take great photos to share. Many of you have been too busy in past years to explore photography but it’s a great hobby and easy now that everything is digital, easy and cheap. Theoretically you are all supposed to have more time on your hands now, so here’s a great way to fill some of it! After all, if you’re busy with grandchildren, why not capture some great family memories at the same time? But despite the digital revolution, the basics of good photos haven’t changed and that’s where we can help. Activities: In our meetings we cover basics such as capturing action from fast moving children, minimising blurring through not being able to hold small cameras steady, what you can do about the dreaded red eye, what memory cards and megapixels are all about, whether you should print at home or a shop and making photo albums or photo gifts such as mugs and calendars. We can also help you with how to get photos into your computer and our members have a variety of experience with software to process and improve your photos - whether you use a PC, laptop or Mac. Plus we have a DVD for you containing heaps of easy to follow tips and hints to improve your photography and make sense of this change from film to digital. From time to time we visit photographic exhibitions in Sydney and a good crowd attended the recent Annie Leibovitz exhibition at the MCA in Sydney. We’ve also had a photo excursion to a local location and we plan to continue both these activities. Your regular holiday snaps or family photos might just be put in an album or perhaps in one of the new digital frames – or even just accumulated on a computer, never to be viewed again! Imagine what can happen with those same photos if you enlarge them. All of a sudden you have a stunning photo memory of that great family occasion or holiday experience which can be hung on your wall as a reminder of great family and travel experiences. They might make great replacements for someone else’s prints that have decorated your walls for years. Two Exciting New Inititatives for the Camera GroupPicture of the month: We would like to introduce a 'Picture of the month' to show at the monthly Probus meeting. Pictures are welcome from any member, whether or not they come to Camera Group meetings. Plus the pictures can be of any subject and do not have to have been taken on Probus excursions. We would like to see lots of photos, which will be judged by the Camera Group at their regular meetings. Photos should be emailed as attachments to David Stuart at: and they should be at the full size at which you took them. Any questions, call David on 0418 224 214 The Forresters Beach Probus Club Calendar For something exciting and different, the Camera Group plans to produce a 2013 calendar featuring the best shots submitted by members through to October this year. The Camera Group will select finalists and arrange for the production of calendars for sale to members at cost. Costs for various quantities will be circulated towards the end of the year to estimate a production quantity based on the amount of interest. For this fun project, photos are welcome from any members but must have been taken on Probus activities. The Camera Group would like the final photos to be creative and have photographic merit, so try and avoid routine shots of people on an excursion, which are more suited to the Newsletter. We need 13 great photos (including the front cover) so please start this month. We would love to have as many submissions as possible and there is no limit as to how many photos you can submit. Entries will close at the end of September this year. Photos should be emailed as attachments to David Stuart at: and they should be at the full size at which you took them. Any questions, call David on 0418 224 214. |
