INSTRUCTIONS FOR CREATING
AN FTP LOCATION
IN WINDOWS XP
Open "My Computer" and, in the left panel of the
window, click on "My Network Places" (shown below with a red box around
it):-

In the new window that opens, in the left panel click on "Add a new
network place" (shown below with a red box around it):-

The following window will now open:-

Click on "Next" to get this window:-

There
may be more than one item under the heading "Select a service provider
etc....". If so, click on "Choose another network
location" (as shown above) then click on "Next". Another window will
open:-

In the field "Internet or network address" type the following:-
ftp://ftp.forrestersbeachprobus.org.au
It MUST be all lower case!!
You can select the above text, copy it, then paste it into the box if
you like.
Now click "Next" and another window will appear:-

Click on "Log in anonymously" and the tick next to it will disappear.
Now, in the "User name" field type in:-
uploads
It MUST be all lowercase!!
Click "Next" and you will see this window:-

Under "Type a name for this network" you will see this already entered:-
ftp.forrestersbeachprobus.org.au
This is simply the name that will appear in "My Computer". I prefer to
give it a more meaningful name such as:-
Probus Uploads
Type that in to see:-

Now click "Next" to get this window:-

At
this stage, click on "Open this network when I click finish"
to
remove the tick. The main part of this document will deal with opening
the location
Click on "Finish"
If
you reopen "My Network Places" (as described at the top of this page)
then you should see the new network location represented by an icon
that look like this:-
